Man Slashed To Death After Quarrel

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- A Malaysia Airlines (MAS) engineer was slashed to death after a quarrel at the KM3.7 Seremban-Kuala Lumpur Highway near Desa Petaling, here Friday night.

Brickfields OCPD ACP Zulhasnan Najib Baharudin said the victim, Lau Kok Seng, 35, from Titi Gajah, Alor Star, Kedah died at the scene when his assailant slashed him with a parang at about 7.30pm.

"Lau, who was driving a Proton Waja car, was on his way to Salak Selatan from Subang Jaya to have dinner with his girlfriend when the incident happened," he told reporters at the scene.

He said the attacker, who was following Lau's car, ordered him to stop by the road side and a quarrel ensued between the two before the man returned to his car and came back with a parang and slashed him.

"Lau, who was slashed on the left side of his neck, died on the spot," he said.

However, Lau's girlfriend was not injured during the incident but she could not provide details of the incident as she was in a state of panic.

"We are still taking down statements from her. Based on initial details, the suspect drove a silver Volvo or Mercedes Benz.

"We are working on the theory that the motive could be revenge," he said.

The case has been classified as murder.

Lau's body was sent to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital for a post-mortem.

Police also appealed to the public who witnessed the incident or has information to contact the Brickfields police station at 03-2274 2222.
